Dominican Beans n' Rice 

Weather you are looking for that perfect side     
dish or you just want to add a little Latin 
flavor to the mix Dominican Beans n' Rice
will do the trick! There are many variations
of this wonder dish. I like to keep it simple
but overflow with flavor. Here is a simple
recipe you might like...Enjoy!





1/2 pound of smoked Ham (cubed)
4 cloves of fresh Garlic
8 ounces of Kidney Beans
3 strands of Cilantro (diced)
3 white onions (diced fine)
2 cups of white rice (rinse rice)
2 TBSP of Veg Oil
2 TBSP of Tomato Paste
1 Tomato (diced)
1 Teaspoon of Salt
1/4 Teaspoon of pepper
1/4 Teaspoon of Chili Powder
2 Teaspoons of Apple Cider Vinegar




A. Wash and soak Kidney Beans over night
B. Take drained Beans and put into pot with 5 cups of water
C. Let the Beans come to a boil then turn down to medium heat
D. Add Ham to Beans and cook for 45 min-1 hour partially cover   
     (stir occasionally)
E. Now add 1 cup water and cook for another 30 min
F. Take 1 & 1/2 Onion, Cilantro, Garlic and blender or process to a paste
G. Take a pan and add Veg Oil heat 1 min
H. Add (onion,garlic,cilantro)paste and Tomato paste to pan then add            
      Salt,Pepper,Chili Powder,Vinegar and the other diced Onions cook 5 min
I.  Now add to the Beans
J. Now Add your Rice to pan and cook for 10 min uncovered (stir gently)
K. Reduce heat to low and cook for another 15-20 min
     Now Gently separate Beans n' Rice from other ingredients with a spoon
     and serve 


























The Cuban Cuisine

Ah the smell of a BBQ and fresh Banana leaves. When you want to eat good then sit back for a nice cigar find a local Cuban restaurant or just
open up your grill and cook the day away. The food from Cuba is bursting with flavor and will fill up the hungriest of eaters. 





A popular dish in Cuba is the Lechon Asado. A slow roasted pork that is cooked overnight and marinated in a cumin mojo sauce. The dish is usually coupled together with rice and beans. A side of fried plantains to top it off. 







Try the Churrasco Estilo Cubano a Cuban skirt steak marinated in orange juice,oregano,minced onion and garlic. Topped off with a Chimichurri sauce. Served with a nice fresh salad.








Finally the famous Cuban Sandwich. Sliced roasted pork and shaved ham, Swiss cheese, pickles between a lightly buttered bread pressed and grilled then sliced diagonally.
